ONCE YOU'RE PART OF OUR BIG FAMILY:

1) How long would you have to commit once you've joined UOL SRC?

We are looking at approximately 2 to 3 months for most of the committees, The Annual Dinner (AD) which will be held in January/February, signifies the handover of the current running EXCOs to the new upcoming batch of EXCOs of the new work year. Official handover and closing of the work year would be done during this event. However, most of the committees would have been done before the Annual Dinner.

2) How frequent do I have to attend committee meetings?

There will be a minimum of 1 meeting per week, depending on the general timeline of the committee. Meetings are based on the discretion of committee members or EXCOs in-charge. Meetings will be from 7pm till 10pm on a designated day decided by the committee members.

There will also be a sub-comm meeting, but this is dependent on your sub-comm I/Cs as well as the agreement of your fellow sub-comm members.

Frequency of sub-comm meetings increases as your event approaches near.

3) Can I join as a participant once I've joined the committee?

No, you are part of the planning committee. You are not allowed to join your committees event as a participant. However, you're allowed to join as a participant or helper for other committees event.

Other things you might need to take note before signing up for UOL Student Representative Council:

A) The 2 to 3 months of work year would be intensive for some. Once you've made a commitment to join the commitee, you are required to fulfill the necessary requirements as a member of the council along with your fellow committee members. Absence without valid reasons is not accepted and serious actions would be taken by the commitee EXCO after multiple warnings.

B) Our work year timeline is similar to the rest of the UOL student body. Hence, you would have ample of time to study before the upcoming exam since our work year ends before the Prelim examinations (usually held in February),

C) Time management is crucial when joining SRC. Good time management while juggling both studies and SRC, you can be assured in doing well in both aspects.

D) Follow your heart. Do something you have a deep passion for. At the end of the day, you'll be working along with your fellow committee members/friends for the next 2 to 3 months, planning for a successful event. Choose a department you're sure you'll put your 101% effort into and make your work year worthwhile and an experience you'll never forget. Do what you enjoy, and enjoy what you do.

Should you have any enquires, please email us at uolsrc@mymail.sim.edu.sg. Looking forward to meeting you in the new work year!
