Antoinette; named after the last Queen of France, Marie-Antoinette, is a cozy pastry and dessert café, situated in the quiet street of Penhas Road away from the busy main streets.
Known for serving the best Salted Egg Croissant in Singapore, it also provides a lavish array of beautifully hand-crafted cakes, sweets and mouth-watering savoury desserts.
Not only that, visitors can indulge in the vibrant décor and the calm ambience of Renaissance era France. Staffs will go an extra mile by greeting the customers warmly and ensuring that their customers need are being taken care of from time to time.
At Antoinette, our team decided to try out the renowned salted egg croissant paired with a chocolate croissant for a taste of both the savoury and the sweet.
Both the croissants were seen to be gleaming in a coat of rich butter that enhances the flavour of the filling when served. The crunchiness of the crust was balanced well with the ideal softness of the dough; the perfect recipe of a croissant one could say.
Our team decided to start with the chocolate croissant as it was served hot first.
When the croissant was sliced, we were taken aback by the generous amount of chocolate filling that oozed out. One could taste both the bitterness and a tinge of sweetness of the chocolate. However, the amazing part was that the chocolate filling does not overpower the flavour of the croissant dough. This dish is highly recommended to chocolate lovers. (Especially dark chocolate fans!!)
Next, we tried their Signature Salted Egg Croissant. Even though there was a lack of oozing unlike the chocolate croissant (which can be explained from the fact that it was left on the table for quite some time) , the salted egg filling had a strong taste and smooth texture. Its distinct taste earned its place as the best which we all agreed. We can finally understand the salted egg craze in Singapore now.
Our stay at Antoinette had been a pleasant one with not only great quality food but also excellent services from the staffs. The staff were polite and thoughtful by making sure that our needs were taken care of from helping us to place our belongings at a corner to ensure that we will have a comfortable meal to refilling our water frequently. Kevin Stirtz once said, “ Every contact we have with a customer influences whether or not they’ll come back. We have to be great every time or we’ll lose them. “ Well said, indeed.
