Food Review: Charcoal Thai

Ever felt like eating Thai food but don’t have the time or money for a trip to Thailand? No worries! Charcoal Thai’s Mookata can satisfy that craving of yours!

Mookata, also known as Thai barbeque steamboat, has been gaining popularity in Singapore recently and Charcoal Thai presents quite an affordable option. With generous amounts of vegetables, marinated meat and seafood for barbecuing, as well as a clear broth, this is definitely the comfort food for rainy days or hangovers.

With 3 outlets across the country, Charcoal Thai is definitely a good place for you to have gatherings with friends! We headed to their outlet at 321 Clementi, located just within a 10 minutes walk from Clementi MRT.

You can choose to order buffet, sets, or à la carte, depending on how hungry you are. We ordered the set meal SB04, which is the Mookata and Thai Beauty Collagen Hotpot Set, with an add on of CHEESE! Who doesn’t like cheese? For the set, it includes fresh vegetables, tender meats such as pork collar, pork belly, chicken thigh, premium seafood, such as prawn, squid, crab stick and more!

The Thai Beauty Collagen was really tasty, even before the ingredients were added into the soup. It was said that the soup was stewed for hours into a smooth collagen pudding. MOST IMPORTANTLY, COLLAGEN IS GOOD FOR OUR SKIN AND HEALTH!

So what is collagen? Collagen is a protein made up of amino acids and is found in the human body. It supports body tissues and is a huge component of the extracellular matrix that supports cells. It is responsible for giving skin its elasticity and hair strength and it also connects tissues together. However, the production of collagen declines with age and is also affected by lifestyle factors such as stress and poor diet. Therefore, it’s recommended to order Thai Beauty Collagen to recover collagen by digging into good food. There is also no need to feel guilty about eating such food anymore!

In my opinion, the meats were juicy and very flavourful, the seafood fresh, and for a balanced meal, there are many different types of vegetables and mushrooms available. The addition of the cheese mookata was definitely our favourite element. We highly recommend anyone, especially all you cheese lovers, to order the add on of cheese ($14.95, original price $19.95).

Charcoal Thai Mookata might not be at the top of your list, but it surely won’t let you down when that craving hits. After all, where can you dine in an air-conditioned location at such affordable price?
