Recap: City Venture 2016

The highly gruelling (if not most) event organised by SIM-UOL SRC CITY VENTURE - has finally concluded their 2D1N amazing race over Singapore on the 19th to 20th November. Participants were tested on their mental and physical aptitude as they travel around the different places in Singapore - first, completing stations games, then to solve the hint to their next destination, covering sectors in the West, Central on the first day and lastly the East on the second day.

Staggering games were held in school for the first hour or so as we searched for the ‘hidden gods’ around school, before embarking on our adventure in the West for the first few hours where we visited places like Choa Chu Kang Park, Phoenix Station and the Japanese Garden. (I’m pretty sure the first sector was the most memorable for the teams who visited the Japanese Garden – scenery which left a beautiful story for the participants)

The second sector began upon leaving the first transit point location where we venture into the central area of Singapore, heading into town and covering the central districts like Farrer Park, Dhoby Ghaut and Bishan where participants faced more station games, puzzles and rain!

Upon the completion of the day which concluded with the Central sector, teams had to head back to the accommodation venue at Cherryloft Resorts in Pasir Ris where everyone had their rest for the night. However, little did the participants know, there was a CHARLIE MIKE - a night segment, where participants had to dauntlessly conquer the last mission of the night. They had to fight against opposing teams with the constant fear of being ousted and to find the right God of their team (represented by the CV committee members). Many teams put their heart into this game as it carried a substantial amount of points which contributed to their final scores, allowing teams to turn the tides.

A new day began and teams went to cover the East sector, the last sector of the event, which covered areas from Pasir Ris, Tampines and Kallang, facing more tough challenges and games. It was truly an eye-opening experience for those who had a taste of the event themselves. I’m very sure that all the participants had a fair share of fun and suffering during the event and have truly enjoyed the event along with their peers.
