Recap: SIMmetry & Walk For Rice

December 30, 2016

The Business Development Committee held their Walk For Rice cum SIMmetry Official Launch on 30th November 2016. To promote student entrepreneurship, a one-day flea was held on the same day. Booth spaces were rented out to student to sell their items too.

An Official Launch was held to promote the launch of our student discount card programme – SIMmetry. Several of our participating partners also came down to our SIM campus to promote and gave out freebies. Some of our partners included Visual Mass, Assemble SG, Zilingo, Soi55, My Work, Blocs Inc, SKWear. Cohesion SG had also kindly sponsored their Archery Tag game, so that students could take a break from studying. Klarity also held a skincare workshop conducted by their founder, Karine Estelle Chong, and gave out free goodie bags filled with Klarity products.

All SIM student are required to present their student ID cards at the participating partners’ outlet or input the discount code if it’s an online store For more details of the SIMmetry programme, do look up out SIMmetry tab on our SRC website:

Our student flea was also flanked by brand like The Sea and Salt (swimwear), The House – DJ Academy and out very own SIM Aquathlon team! We had also set up our own UOL merchandise booth, where we sold limited edition merchandises. Beside our periodic flash sales, we also sell out UOL merchandise on our new merchandise page

Lastly, our biggest event which was spread across 3 days was the Walk For Rice, conducted with the support of South East CDC. It is an annual event conducted by Community Centre, schools and companies; so as to help the needy by walking for rice. For every 200m walked, 1 bowl of white and brown rice each would be donated by NTUC Fairprice. Buzz also worked with us to give out $2 vouchers as and when anyone hit 600m. With an initial target of 3000 bowls, we were able to hit and went beyond our target with a grand total of 674 packs of rice were donated and the number of families that benefited were 337 – which roughly translates to 843.08km walked. More details of the event can be found here

All in all, the Business Development Committee would like to thank all our Partners, all the CCAs who participated and the student body for giving us their support!
