ICS Captain's Ball 2019

“You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.” - Wayne Gretzky

Inter-Collegiate Sports (ICS) is back at it again with their annual competition. For the first time ever, ICS held Ultimate Frisbee, as well as eSports! Not to forget Captain’s Ball which was brought back from the previous year. These games were spread out over a span of 3 weeks and the competition was fierce! If you had missed out on the event, fret not, as here are some of the highlights we will break down for you guys!

Captain’s Ball

One of the more popular games to be held this year, Captain’s Ball is a game that most of us are familiar with. Captain’s Ball had always been the game that we played during our primary, secondary or tertiary schools to form bonds with our fellow schoolmates. On the 15th of November, a total of 124 participants and 18 teams competed to clinch the top placing. Each team comprised of 6 to 7 players with a minimum of 2 female players. The competition was definitely intense this year as every team competed with burning determination as they displayed their skills to reach their goal on the other end of the court. Though it was a battlefield on the court, the teams all showed sportsmanship at the end of every round.

A huge shoutout to Redbull for sponsoring this event!

Congratulations to the teams who clinched Top 3 positions!

1st: Team 1500

2nd: Team Pii Por

3rd: Team Heaven Got To It

Some words from Yvonne, 2IC of ICS 2019/20…..

Q: How would you describe the captain’s ball segment in your own words

A: Overall, I think the event was generally very successful. Personally, I felt a great sense of achievement seeing the comm’s effort for the past few months come to fruition. Thanks to everyone’s efforts, the event flow went smoothly and eventually concluded on a high note. We are also very thankful for the turnout (both participants & spectators) and just hoped that everyone enjoyed themselves during our event.

Q: Any words for your ICS team

A: Thank you guys for putting in your best efforts to ensure our events’ success!!! Please know that our events (past & future) will not be how it is if not for everyone’s effort. No matter which subcommittee you’re in & what role you’re given, every single one of you matter & are crucial to ICS. Without any one of you, ICS 2K19 would not be what it is!! We have a short work year so let’s all press on & work together for the remaining time we have left :’)
